About 90 miles south of Fort Worth Texas, there is an outdoor gem. Lake Whitney, Texas is in the western hill country of Northern Texas. This is an area with camping, outdoor recreation, and unlimited exploration. Part of America’s heartland…customer service is not dead here. In town, we received old fashioned customer service at the local grocery store….Brookshires! They pride themselves on their customer service by even insisting taking your groceries to your car for you. (we have a a smart car not many groceries will fit in our car) but they insisted! More employees than customers the way it used to be. It was very refreshing.
On to the outdoors…the Whitney Dam was created from the Dam on the Brazos River. A substantial size lake with camping, boating, swimming, and Kayaking. We stayed at Thousand Trails right on the lake. A great choice if you have a thousand trails membership. However, if I did not have thousand trails I would choose one of the great public campground with amazing views right on the lake. I would choose Site 41 on a bluff overlooking the lake. At this time of year, you can hear the frogs making music from this site!
Spend a little time taking in the view and hiking the area. An amazing way to relax and take it all in!

Down side this time of year is all of the thunderstorms with the of Tornadoes…Small price to pay to get flowers like these…
As of today, we are celebrating two weeks into our full time Rving life! We have traveled from Albuquerque through Lubbock into the hill country of Northern Texas. What have we learned? We love camping this time of year! We basically have the campground to ourselves. There is absolutely no one around us and the staff here at our thousand trails campground is fantastic.
After struggling to get a reliable cell signal through the trees in this rural area, we decided we need to get a larger cell booster to access the internet more reliably. What did we decide on? We received the WEBOOST Vehicle system and added a larger antenna to the one that came with the box. Our signal went from one bar and 1X to three bars and 3G (we still have 3G phones) FYI – The booster does support 3G and 4G. From our perspective, the booster is well worth every penny! I am sure this is not the last time this will be needed. WEBOOST AMAZON
Nothing like scavenging the forest for a small chunk of wood that can make a great background for your shop photos. Oh, and a little impromptu way to take some detailed photos using what is around you as a tripod!
It finally happened! After a ton of work and even more planning…we closed on the sticks and stucco (we are in Albuquerque) house today. We are officially full time RVers. Sticking around Albuquerque for the next few days for more organizing and perhaps a little more purging of stuff. We are sooooo excited and exhausted too. But, then on Sunday we take off eastward to start a new adventure…wait I think everyday will be a new adventure!
As many of you know by now, we are embarking on our new exciting journey which is only a week away.
I know when we were researching this lifestyle. My number one question was…How do we make money as we travel on the road and keep to our budget? As we start this new journey, we will be growing our businesses to keep us traveling. David is working his voice over business www.davidlisauskas.com as well as some other contract jobs since he has some work experience in technical writing. I believe I mentioned that I will be opening up my online shop to sell my jewelry again. I have been working hard to get some new designs and inventory built to open my shop. So look for my Etsy shop opening soon. Of course, it will be named FiresideTraveler. One of my new customers for this new venture was Kali from The Freedom Theory Vlog on YouTube. Check out how excited she was to get the earrings on the post from today:
As always, Kali thank you and Josh for being a part of the inspiration for our new journey. So glad you loved the earrings.
